Even with the benefit of hindsight on BFS, I'd rather have had him than serial failer MON.
And let's not get carried away about the Free State. They beat a very average, in-transition Italy.

Agreed to an extent - clearly a good charismatic coach and leader. But he left both Villa and Sunderland with a wage-heavy team of misfires that struggled after he left - not a sign of a healthy influence in matters off the pitch imo.

How the hell do you win your group and get to play Spain?
Italy would not concede such a goal in one million years again?
All I am saying is only two teams should qualify, the Italian coach is a brilliant actor he did his best animated coach display, and Italy made a very average Ireland team look like Brazil in that second half, Italy just allowed them attack after attack and sat back.
